One year after the launch of thedistrict’s first-ever strategic plan, GCS hosted a State of Our Schools address to update the community on the progress of goals and initiatives accomplished so far. During the address, GCS discussed upcoming initiatives that will be underway by 2012.
During the event, held Jan. 26 at High Point University, Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green called on students to help tell the district’s story.

The event also served as the launching point for the next major initiatives in the strategic plan. In January 2009, GCS unveiled an ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan to guide the district in its efforts to become one of the nation’s leading public school districts. The theme of the plan is excellence in all areas, including academics, character development and operations.
The plan is a three-and-a-half year road map with carefully laid out strategies designed to boost student achievement, increase family and community involvement, improve district service, increase the teacher retention rate and improve school safety and discipline. All strategies are based on measurable goals.
